The ZynAddSubFX Synthesis Collection brings the Neo-Renaissance instrument concept into one of the more unusually capable synthesis environments available to the Linux musician.
The collection uses synthesis as a means of approaching the character of historical instruments without being bound to acoustic imitation. Strings, winds, reeds, voices, brass and other instrumental colours become material for synthesis rather than fixed reproductions.
The intention is to provide sounds which are useful musically whilst leaving sufficient room for further investigation. ZynAddSubFX rewards those willing to look beneath the surface of a preset, and these instruments are therefore equally suited to playing and experimentation.
Use them for modal composition, counterpoint, ambient music, electronic music, sound design and experimental work.
