Geonkick Sound Engines is a collection of percussion instruments built for the Geonkick drum synthesiser.
Rather than relying upon sampled drum recordings, the sounds are constructed inside the synthesis engine itself. This makes the collection particularly useful for studying the relationship between pitch, resonance, transient behaviour and noise in percussion.
The collection is supplied as a Geonkick kit, together with the accompanying installation material.
The sounds range from recognisable percussion towards more synthetic and unusual constructions, providing material for rhythm sections, tuned percussion, experimental compositions and sound design.
A drum synthesiser is capable of considerably more than simply producing a kick and a snare. These engines are intended to explore that fact.
Use them as finished sounds, modify them to suit your own music, or examine their construction and build upon the principles yourself.
